Baldwin Orchestra Musicians Accepted into LISFA Festival

Baldwin Orchestra Musicians Accepted into LISFA Festival

Four Baldwin student-musicians were chosen to participate in this year’s Long Island String Festival Association’s festival. Baldwin High School 12th grader Brianna Horneck (violin) and 10th grader Mia Bryant (viola), along with Baldwin Middle School 8th grader Caitlin Clay (violin) and 6th grader Ethan Biazon (violin), have been chosen to rehearse and perform with a guest conductor and other selected Long Island students. Ms. Noellia Nicotri instructs the middle school students, while Ms. Stephanie Muir serves as the high school orchestra students.

Participation in the LISFA Festivals mirrors the All-County Festival, with one significant distinction: LISFA focuses exclusively on orchestral strings. Students from orchestras across Nassau and Suffolk Counties are chosen based on teacher recommendations and their performance scores from the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA). These talented students will showcase their skills at the festival in February.

“This group of talented musicians will represent Baldwin as distinguished string players, excelling on their respective instruments,” stated André Poprilo, Director of Fine and Performing Arts for the Baldwin Union Free School District. “This achievement speaks to the level of dedication of both our students and our educators, who are committed to advancing our students’ musical skills. Please join me in congratulating these exceptional student musicians.”

Established in 1956, LISFA draws its strength from dedicated string teachers, gifted students, supportive parents, and exceptional conductors who celebrate the power of music. LISFA proudly collaborates with the Nassau Music Educators Association (NMEA), which honored 55 Baldwin students this year.
